Disclaimer: The club and its members take no responsibility and will not be held responsible for any injuries or accidents that may occur during club events. Outdoor sports are inherently dangerous and accidents will happen. By joining the club or participating in any events posted on the GayOutdoors web page you are taking responsibility for your own safety and well-being. Anyone with an internet connection can post a trip on the GayOutdoors web site. It is your responsibility to determine if this person has the experience and competence to lead the trip. Be Prepared: Please be prepared to be self-sufficient. Have your own provisions such as first aid kit, food, water, extra clothing for unplanned weather, etc. Have your EMERGENCY CONTACT SHEET completed and in your backpack; it may save your life, and help reach someone who greatly cares!
Pace: There may be activities when the group is either slower or faster than your current ability. Please know that because this is a group activity, it's hard to accommodate everyone's pace perfectly. Our desire is not to leave anyone, however there have been times when it is in the best interest of all to split up. Please do your part by knowing your own abilities, communicating with the organizer head of time if you would like to start early and have us catch up or fine with finishing on your own.
Summary

Please join me for a spring ride along this 15 mile section of the Hop Brook Railtrail.  We'll meet at a parking area just off I-84 and ride the 15+/- miles to Andover and return for a total ride of 30+ miles.  An optional ride on the 4 mile spur to Rockville CT is possible at the end of the main event.  Riding surface is packed bluestone dust (not asphalt) so somewhat wider tires are advisable if you have a choice.  Please bring helmet and water.  Lunch spot will most likely be at a Subway/DD or bring your own.

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

From 84W take Exit 63 and turn right onto Deming St/Route 30 which becomes Tolland Turnpike/Routes 30 & 83.  From 84E take exit 63 and turn left onto Tolland Turnpike/Routes 30 & 83.  Turn right onto Parker St (there's a right-turn-only lane and a sign for Big Y supermarket).  At the 2nd traffic light turn left onto Colonial Road and take the next immediate left into the parking lot for Hop Brook RailTrail.

Guys, my saturday just opened up and the forecast down there suggests sun, something in short supply up here in Vermont. Exploring transportation arrangements, a one-way rental from Vermont to Manchester CT, Enterprise Rent-a-Car office. Helpful comments welcome! Jon, it would be great to see you -- and everyone else, of course....
