Summary

The trail is located in the Housatonic Meadows State Park and Housatonic State Forest on the west side of the Housatonic River. A short, but still challenging trail, it coincides with the Appalachian Trail for 0.7 mile of the loop's 2.5-mile length and features beautiful vistas over the river valley.  Elevation gain: 700 ft.

The hike will last about 2 hours.

After the hike, we can all get a bite at the nearby "Wandering Moose Café” which is about 3 miles further north on RT 7 making a left on the historic Covered Bridge into the town of Cornwall Bridge, CT.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

Take Rt. 7 north to Cornwall, CT.  At the junction of Rt 4 and Rt 7, continue on Rt. 7 north for one mile.  The sign for Pine Knob Loop is on the left hand side.  Go slowly because it's easy to drive by the dirt parking lot which accesses the trail head.
