[ Although the original deadline has passed for sending in payment for this trip, we are still able to accommodate a couple more guys, so please don't hesitate to sign up if you are interested. The snow is great in northern Vermont: Craftsbury has all their trails open, plus they have expanded to an additional 30 km of trails from another cross-country ski area.]
We are returning to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, one of the largest, snowiest, and best-loved XC centers in Vermont. Skiers of all abilities are welcome. There are 85 km of groomed trails, including long-distance trails traversing rolling terrain in the countryside, and 15 km of totally flat trails on the frozen lakes.
Our lodging is right on the trail system. You can get out and ski before breakfast if you so desire. We have two 2-bedroom suites, each with a private kitchen and a large living room for socializing after skiing. After we fill the suites, later registrants will stay in dorm rooms in the same building. Meals will be provided in the Craftsbury dining facility, or, if we plan to ski through the day, they can provide us with bag lunches. The all-inclusive fee of $420 per person includes 3 nights' accommodations, trail fees, and 3 meals a day. Ski equipment can be rented for $15/day. Deposit of $150 to reserve your place on the trip; payment in full must be received by January 16, 2012. Cancellations after January 16, 2012 will forfeit the $150 deposit.
We also welcome skiers who wish to join us for a day trip without staying overnight at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
The address of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center is 535 Lost Nation Rd, Craftsbury Common, VT. Their Web site has detailed directions and local maps. The closest airport is Burlington (BTV), 90 minutes by car. Closest Amtrak station is Waterbury-Stowe, about an hour. Closest Greyhound station is Montpelier, about an hour. We will be staying in the Cedar Lodge on the 2nd floor.
