This is probably the most popular hike in Shenandoah, primarily because it is only 1/4 mile away from a large visitor's center, restaurant and campground.  It is one hike I've been wanting to do for a good while, but not on a weeked so it was naturally my pick for hike for Friday.  One of the campers that has hike all of the trails in Shenandoah suggested an extra long round about to Dark Hallow which we all agreed.  So we parked near Fisher's Gap, hiked up the horse trail and then connected to the Story of The Forest Trail which shortly leads you to the Dark Hallow Falls trailhead.  We hiked down (like ALL Shenandoah-based hikes, they start easy and end up all uphill to get back to the starting point).

We followed the creek down to the first fall and pool, enjoying the cool air from the waterfalls, stayed a minute to get some great photos and videos and then continued on down, which was steep in a few spots.  Fortunately, our return trip was not up this hill but a rather gentle sloping fireroad.

We had our lunch at the first pool on our way down, had a few of my homemade oatmeal chocolate chip pecan and spiced cookies. we stopped several times on the way back for a water break and got back around 3:30pm
