Summary
I hope you’ve been getting in some riding. If not, we’re going to do a mountain bike ride at Hartshorne on Saturday July 30th, meeting at 10:00am. This is an intermediate to advanced skill level ride as the trails are best described as hilly. We’ll do our usual 10 to 12 miles and then head up the road for some pizza or down the shore for seafood.
As always, significant rains at the time of the ride, ice, blizzards and temps below 30 will cancel the ride. If you RSVP, you will be contacted about any ride status changes.
The Rules:
1. Make sure your bike is in good working order. Clean and lube your chain, pack a spare tube, and a bike pump.
2. Always bring identification: driver's license, emergency phone number, and health insurance card.
3. Wear a helmet. It is required. No ifs ands or buts. Eye protection is also highly recommended.
4. Bring water. Two water bottles and/or a camelback are recommended.
5. Bring food. Fig Newton's, fruit, raisins, Power or Cliff Bars, or a packet or two of energy gel.
6. Bring money. Great to have on you for snacks or an after ride meal.
7. Bring your cell phone, and or 2 way radio (w/adjustable freq.) if you have one. They are always a welcome addition. (NO calling or texting while riding will be tolerated)
8. All ride leaders are volunteers. Riders are expected to understand that they ride at their own risk.
9. We will ride according to the IMBA Rules of the Trail.
Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot
Take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 117. Head east on NJ-36 for about 12 miles to the Scenic Drive exit. Turn Right at the stop sign at the end of the ramp. The parking lot is less than a half-mile ahead on the left. I'm driving a silver wagon with roof racks.
