SUMMARY:
Join me for a New Year's Eve Day hike up the Crawford Path to the icy summit of Mt. Pierce. Mt. Pierce has great views of the southern Presidential Mountains including Mt. Washington. The trail is a nice moderate ramp (2400 ft elevation gain) and only 3 miles one way to the summit. We will have lunch at the summit. It takes about 2.5 hours to reach the summit. (Total hike time about 6 hours including lunch). We will be hiking in winter conditions at a moderate pace with time to enjoy the scenery. There will be lots of ice and snow. MicroSpikes are mandatory. Please have the appropriate gear/clothing to hike this time of year and the appropriate amount of layers to keep your core body warm. We recommend WINTER hiking boots, Since this is a winter group hike, please try to stay together during the hike. If you find yourself getting too far ahead, please wait for the other hikers to catch up. Hikers are welcome to come over my house (about 30 minutes from the trailhead) before or after the hike or stay overnight if desired.
Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:
Mt. Clinton Parking Lot on Rt.302 (across from AMC Highland Center) or carpool from my house 30 minutes from trailhead. Email me for directions if needed.
