SUMMARY:

Celebrate busy 4th of July weekend with a hike up to Fischer Mountain with no crowds and good views to Franconia Ridge followed by swim and BBQ! We'll follow a herd path [no official trail] to Fischer Mountain which provides good views south, Mount Moosilauke and Franconia Ridge. The ledges of Fischer Mountain can be viewed from Dickey Mountain.

After parking near a Forest Service gate, we'll follow a logging road leading us to the herd path. The hike includes going up a series of ledges and occasional scrambles.  Hike distance approximately 4 miles, Elevation Gain 1509 Feet Book time Average: 3 hrs

Friday, July 4th: Make a weekend of it and lodge with us; see below! Arrive around 1PM and hang out at our private swimming hole in the Mad River followed by a potluck. Please bring something to share. Later in the evening, we have a hot tub to soak into for star gazing.

Saturday, July 5th: Everyone is welcome to join us back at our house in Waterville Valley for a swim in our swimming hole and relaxing on our deck [BYOB and bring snacks] and a BBQ! We ask $10 per person to help pay for our food costs. Please let us know you will join us for the BBQ so we have enough food. Showers are available so bring a change of clothing to make your visit with us more comfortable. Later in the evening we will have a campfire and shoot off some fireworks!!!

Lodging Option: Bunk beds are available at our house [with Wi Fi] near Waterville Valley, NH for Friday and/or Saturday nights. It's $25 for Friday night, $35 for Saturday that includes dinner or $60 for the weekend. Coffee/bagels each morning and linen/blankets/towels are provided. Space is limited so email ASAP to reserve a bunk!

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

Because the trailhead [or lack thereof] is difficult to find, we'll be meeting at the Campton Post Office on Exit 28 off I-93. As you get off the exit, turn towards Waterville Valley and you'll see the Post Office after Dunkin' Donuts. We'll be driving a blue Toyota Tacoma. We can carpool from here.
