Our adventure will begin with an evening in fabulous Las Vegas. The next morning, we will drive to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon to enjoy the views & stay overnight. Then, we will day hike from the South Rim to the North Rim (21 miles with 6200 foot elevation gain), take a rest day to explore the North Rim, and then day hike back to the South Rim (25 miles with 5600 foot elevation gain).   The hikes will be very strenuous and hikers may encounter high temps of 100F+ in the inner canyon with minimal shade.   The trails are excellent with many switchbacks and in good condition.  Only hikers in excellent physical condition should attempt this hike.

Three cabins (which will accommodate 9 hikers) on the North Rim have been already been reserved for our hiking group. 

All other accommodations/cars/flights etc. should be reserved on your own or other hikers in the group.  Hikers that live on the West Coast can join us on Tuesday at the South Rim if desired.

Itinerary

Monday, May 13: Fly to Las Vegas (stay overnight)/ Visit Las Vegas Strip

Tuesday, May 14: Drive to South Rim (stay overnight)/ Enjoy sunset hike to Shoshone Point, South Rim

Wednesday, May 15:  (2AM) Hike from South Rim to North Rim (Stay overnight in North Rim Cabin)

Thursday, May 16: Rest day & explore North Rim (Stay overnight in North Rim Cabin)

Friday, May 17: (5AM): Hike from North Rim to South Rim (or take shuttle bus back to South Rim) /Celebration dinner at El Tovar Restaurant / (Stay overnight on South Rim)

Saturday, May 18: Drive to Las Vegas & Fly Home
