SUMMARY:

Join us for an amazing and challenging 10.2 mile loop hike to one of the most spectacular views in NH! Elevation gain will be 3,600 feet. The giant of the Carters is upstaged by its spur, Mt. Hight, but still, there are good views here. Mt Hight has the finest has the finest view point of the Carter-Moriah Range.

Beginning at the Nineteen Brook Trailhead, we ascend for 3.8 miles to Carter Notch Hut where we can re supply with water. We’ll then take a very steep 1.2 miles climb up the Carter-Moriah Trail to the summit of Carter Dome. Descending off the Dome for .8 miles we will ascend to the summit of Mt. Hight and hope for clear skies that will allow us 360* views of the Presidentials, Baldfaces, Carters, Moats and Ossipee’s. We will descend Mt. Hight to the Zeta Pass and take a left onto the Carter Dome Trail for 1.9 miles reconnecting with the Nineteen Mile Brook trail which will lead us back to the trailhead. 

Don't forget to bring wind/rain shell, water, lunch, snacks, bug repellent, sunscreen, etc. along with whatever you typically have for a hiking excursion. We’ll have lunch on top of the summit. 

Social Mixer: Following the hike, everyone is join us for dinner at nearby Red Fox Grill in Jackson, NH.

Lodging Option: Bunk beds are available at our house near Waterville Valley, NH for Friday and Saturday night. Its $25 dollars for Friday night and $25 for Saturday night. Coffee/bagels each morning and linen/blankets/towels are provided. We have 4 bunks available so the first 4 guys that contact us to reserve will get one; and let us know which night[s] you’ll be lodging with us. You’re on your own for dinner Friday night but you’re welcome to use our kitchen facilities to cook!  

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

Trailhead and parking area is on the east side of NH 16, 1 mile north of the Mt. Washington Auto Road. We’ll be driving a blue Toyota Tacoma truck.
