SUMMARY:

Let’s hike to the highest beer tap in NH, which is at 4080’ on St. Patrick's Day!

Yep, this is a peak of a NH 4000 footer, which makes hiking Cannon a fun one! We will hike up the Kinsman Ridge Trail which goes along the tramway and enjoy the wonderful views of Franconia Notch with Lincoln, Lafayette and the Kinsman’s. We will also be where the Old Man of the Mountain used to hangout.

We will summit the tower to make the climb official and then visit the highest beer tap in NH which is in the summit lodge. Here we will enjoy lunch, a beer and then head back down the way we came up. You will need your MicroSpikes for sure and all your winter hiking gear. Make sure you are in the cardio fitness level that you will need for this short, steep, tough burst up the mountain.

You may look at this and think that it is only a 2 mile hike up but it will be an elevation gain of 2100 feet that will test your endurance! This a steep hike and can be slippery.

Start time: 10:30 AM

RT mileage: 4.2 miles

Elevation gain: 2100 feet

You must be prepared for this hike with the proper foot wear, clothing, food and hydration. No jeans. Bring hand warmers for your gloves. Wear winter-insulated boots on your feet, warm socks, dress in layers [no cotton], gloves [mittens are best], warm hat and headlamp/flashlight. Some guys like to have a scarf/neck gaiter to keep their neck warm, gaiters for their boots to keep snow off their boots, ski poles and small thermos for something hot to drink. Don't forget water, lunch and snacks.

If you have questions about this hike, please contact us.

Apres Hiking Dinner:  Everyone is welcome to join us back at our house in Waterville Valley to relax by our fireplace [BYOB and bring snacks] followed by one of Jon's delicious dinners. We ask $10 per person to help pay for our food costs. Showers are available so bring a change of clothing to make your visit with us more comfortable.

Lodging Option: Bunk beds are available at our house [with Wi Fi] near Waterville Valley, NH. It's $35 for Saturday that includes dinner. Coffee/bagels each morning and linen/blankets/towels are provided. Space is limited so email ASAP to reserve a bunk!
