This was a very pleasant hike through a canopied forest. The heavy forest prevented us from having views of Fonatana Lake. But the hike did end at the lake. On the trail we saw no other hikers, but there were plenty of visitors to the dam.

At Fontana Dam there is a gift shop and information center along with great views. Also at the dam are rest room and shower facilities for through hikers. Campinng is also available for through hikers.
