Summary

Come for a weekend getaway to Umbagog Lake State Park, one of New Hampshire’s most scenic and peaceful state parks. Located on the southern shore of Umbagog Lake and bordering the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, the park offers wide-open water access, excellent paddling, and outstanding wildlife viewing. The lake’s calm bays and open stretches make it ideal for paddleboarding, canoeing, and kayaking.

Come for the day or stay for the whole weekend. You can camp, paddle, swim, hike, wildlife watch, or simply unplug.

I’ll be out on the water paddleboarding throughout the weekend and will offer an introduction to paddleboarding on Saturday.

Bring your own gear or a SUP, canoe, or kayak if you prefer. Canoe and kayak rentals may be available through the park, call ahead to confirm.

Geography:

Umbagog Lake State Park is located in northern New Hampshire along Route 26 in Errol, adjacent to the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge. The park is also known for exceptionally dark night skies, making it a great spot for stargazing.

Facilities:

The park offers a campground, beach area for swimming, public boat launch, marina, park store, restrooms, and a visitor center. The campground is pet-friendly and supports both day use and overnight stays.

If Umbagog sites are full, it’s not a crisis, it’s a plot twist. Mollidgewock State Park is only 10.8 miles away (about 17 minutes, just enough time to change your mind about the playlist twice). We can still coordinate everything across both camps, breakfast hangs, paddling, hikes, campfires, and the completely optional but absolutely inevitable group sing-along.
Rob and I just reserved site #21. There are only two other sites available in the base camp, sites 22 and 50. So if you sign up reserve your site right away. Don't hesitate.
Hey -- these sites are disappearing fast -- there were TWELVE available when I posted this. Now there are TWO or THREE!
Directions Corrections: It is Exit 40 in Littleton and NOT exit 35! Big thanks to @sedonahikerman for catching that error and letting me know!
Yes, the pics are from Umbagog Lake.
Hey there -- if two days is too much for you, just spend one night... AND if two days IS NOT enough for you, you are welcome to join me for more -- I am camping at Umbagog Lake State Park from July 13 through July 23! Scott
