Summary

This foliage adventure is bringing us to Mount Osceola, the GayOutdoors adopted trail!

The main clifftop perch atop this very rugged peak [4,340 feet] gives you a magnificent prospect over the Waterville Valley region to the Tripyramids and Sandwich Dome with the ravine of Osceola Brook dropping away at your feet!

This is our adopted trail so Jon and I will each have a fire rake to clean up the water bars for winter as we ascend…so it will be a slow ascent…we can share the fire rakes with you so that everyone can participate!

We will start the hike off Tripoli Road in Waterville Valley, using the Mt. Osceola Trail. This trail has easy to moderate grades although the footing is rough/rocky in some places. We will return down the way we came up.

The entire hike is about 5.8 miles with 2050 feet elevation gain.

It's easy to maintain social distancing on the trails as everyone hikes at their own pace but for the initial meet and greet, please have a face covering with you until we get started. Also, please respect each other’s space. When we pass other hikers put your face covering back on and move off the trail. As with all places nowadays, please stay home if you're sick or have been around anyone sick.

We will be hiking in November so winter like conditions this time of year can occur so be prepared! Please have the appropriate gear/clothing to travel this time of year and the appropriate amount of layers to keep your core body warm. We recommend hiking boots, wool hat, gloves [hand warmers if your hands get cold easily], and NO COTTON. Carry at least 2 liters of water, lunch and snacks.

After The Hike: Everyone is invited back to our house for dinner It’s BYOB and all we ask is $10 to reimburse us for food costs. You are invited to use our showers and freshen up into clean clothes.

Lodging Option: Bunk beds are available at our house near Waterville Valley, NH for Friday at $25 and/or Saturday night at $35 per night that includes dinner. Coffee/bagels each morning and linen/blankets/towels are provided. We have limited space in the fridge to store your beverages/food so it's best to bring a small cooler. Space is limited so email ASAP to reserve a bunk!

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

We will meet at the parking area in Tripoli Road neat the height-of-land in Thornton Gap, 6.7 miles from I-93 [Exit 31, northbound ramp] or 2.9 miles from the Livermore Road parking area at West Branch Road in Waterville Valley, NH.
