This will be an all day, strenuous, 10.2 mile hike with lots of elevation gain! We will start at the Greenleaf trailhead, ascend around Eagle Cliff (which is supposed to have spectacular views), and ...
Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at: Park at the base of Cannon Mountain Tramway, we will collect in the parking lot and walk over to the trailhead together. It is exit 34B on 93: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Grhu7MukmLdBwwts6 Meet at 8am, we'll be leaving the parking lot at 8:15am. We will need to spot a car at the Liberty Spring Trailhead beforehand. We got perfect weather with a cool morning and a warm sunny afternoon, clear all day, and great visibility. Summit of Lafayette was chilly and windy but otherwise temperatures were quite comfortable. A few short sections of snow/ice but mostly the trail has melted out. Lots of company along the way. The woodland wildflowers were on full display, including abundant carpets of trout lily on the forest floor. A haze of green just starting on the lower elevation deciduous trees. What a beautiful day to be out. Thanks everyone for a great hike, and thanks to Russ for joining us for his first GO hike we were glad to have you!

  • Comment: I'm interested in joining this hike - I'm new to GOs and a solid hiker but not overly fast. I recently did an 11.8 mile 3000ft hike in Phoenix Mountains Preserve in AZ (speed = 1.75 mph). I have completed the AMC leadership training so aware of what's needed for hiking the Whites! Looking forward to hearing from you your thoughts. Currently in Boston - can drive, but it's an old car so happy to rideshare or drive.
