The first day of spring did not disappoint, as today was a beautiful day for a hike! Eleven GOers came out in total. Everyone was very friendly and we all had a good chat. We began the loop around the pond. To my surprise, the pond was mostly still frozen! We saw some interesting tree trunks that were chewed up by beavers. About a third of the way through, we saw that a previously closed off trail had reopened. We were curious, so we decided to take the unplanned route up Club Trail 12. Along the trail, we came across a large clearing from a logging operation that appeared to have recently taken place. Some of the members remarked at how good the recently felled lumber smelled. It did smell nice! Club Trail 12 then reconnected back to the main trail that looped around the pond. When we got to the dam area, we stood around and spent some time chatting. A few of us had the pleasure to talk to a guy about a horse too. We then finished the hike and said, "so long." It was a great day for a hike with a great group of interesting guys. I hope everyone had as much fun as me. Welcome spring!
