we three started a bit late waiting for a no-show, but we also started with a good pace enjoying the sunny morning although walking into the sun.  Fortunately, I had remembered that this is an issue on this trail and recommended hats for all which made the walk really enjoyable.  It's no pleasure to squint for 5 miles. We enjoyed views of Rockets Landing and the many soybean and wheat fields that are surprisingly close to Richmond.  After 2 hours we reached our turn around point and headed back at a slightly quicker pace think of having a nice lunch at Poe's (as in Edgar Allan) Inn.  Another of the walkers that had to decline was able to meet up for lunch and we had a great time eating and chatting.
