Every fall I like to get out and see the fall colors, either hiking or driving.   Today I decided to go for a long ride in the North Maine Woods to see the leaves.

I'd say many places I went today are at peak.

On many of my trips to the North Maine Woods there isn't much road traffic and I don't see a lot of people, but not on this trip.  There are several hunting seasons going on right now, and even though you can't hunt on Sunday, the woods were still busy with people.

It has been extremely dry and the roads are very dusty.  Water is low everywhere.

This was a ride, with a couple of short walks to some lakes.  I drove around 95 miles on woods roads, with a total for the day of 185 miles.

It was a warm and humid late September day, with temps. in the mid to high 70's.

I saw several partridge and almost ran over one.  I did not see any big animals.
