Summary

Celebrate fall with a hike over South and North Baldface in the White Mountains.  This loop has two of the 52 With A View peaks, each offering a 360-degree view with Maine to the east and Mt. Washington to the west.

The distance is 9.3 miles, and the elevation gain is 3,600’.  There are STEEP LEDGES as we ascend clockwise up South Baldface, so the weather will be an important factor for this hike.  (These ledges are on the Terrifying 25 list if you’re interested in completing these.)  Definitely wear shoes that have strong traction.  Please remember that THIS IS A MODERATE TO STRENUOUS HIKE. We aim to keep a steady pace with only few, very short breaks. We will take a lunch break.

Please bring the ten essentials in your pack at all times: https://www.nps.gov/articles/10essentials.htm

AllTrails map: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/baldface-trail

The hike is about enjoying our surroundings and each other's company. Please bring your positivity, flexibility and good sense of humor. Negativity, politics and current news events can remain at home.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

Baldface Circle Trailhead is located at 2223 Main Road in Chatham, NH 03813, which is Route 113. You can also look for the Emerald Pool parking lot, just north of Cold River Camp. The trailhead has a fairly large parking lot that can accommodate 20-25 cars and a bathroom.

Looks like I don't have clearance from the dr.s to hike this weekend..so my self and rbill19 will not be making it.... I'll make sure he removes himself as well.... Maybe next weekend I can make it back out there.

Good morning everyone. Weather for tomorrow looks good. TrailsNH describes conditions as sunny, high near 68, northwest wind 5MPH becoming calm. If you're not going to make the hike or running late, message me before 9AM. We'll wait 10 minutes for anyone running late. Don't keep everyone waiting for naught if you're not coming. My number is 207-607-9274. Please assess your physical condition as there will be only few, short breaks. We do get a nice lunch break as part of the hike.
