Join us for a beautiful hike on the trails and carriage roads of the Marsh Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park in Woodstock, Vermont. We will hike up the Precipice Trail to the south peak of Mount Tom, where we will have lunch. We will come down on the Mount Tom Road and Mountain Road, adding on a walk around The Pogue (pond), and perhaps exploring some other carriage roads on the way down. Our hiking distance should be between 3-4 miles. Except for The Precipice Trail, this will be easy walking. The Precipice Trail is narrow in places, and in some places there's ropes to hang on to, but it was totally fine, even for one of the trip leaders that has a slight fear of heights. Afterwards, if there is interest, we can go for ice cream or coffee on Main Street in Woodstock, and/or explore the park further, including the visitor centers and house tours.
Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot
Use Google Maps for "Billings Farm & Museum, 69 Old River Rd, Woodstock, VT 05091", which will take you to the parking lot for both the Billings Farm and the National Historic Park. We will meet in front of the Billings Farm Museum and Visitor Center. To start the hike, we will take the walking path across the street where there will be the National Park Visitor Center and the walking trails.
