Summary

This is a great, moderately difficult hike that we have done partially before however due to the heavy rains of last year the water was too deep and fast at the end of the Buck Hollow trail so we had to turn around.

There are great views of cascading creeks and the sound of water all the way down Buck Hollow. Total loop is 5.8 miles.  Bring waterproof hiking boots, water, lunch, sweat rag, and snacks.  Since this is the Appalachian Mountains, bring a jacket and poncho (or waterproof jacket) for the occasional summer shower.

We’ll hike down Hazel Mountain Trail 0.5 miles until we hit Buck Ridge Trail and turn left onto this trail.  At mile 2.7 miles we cross the creek (hopefully) and then head up Buck Hallow Trail back to the parking lot.  Total time will be about 4 to 4 ½ hours and 5.8 miles
