While we had added a new camper the first two nights we were surprised by two more campers that signed up at the last minute. We welcomed them and after they set up their tent we fired up the grill and cooked steaks and grilled vegetables.
The weather was great with a nice breeze with quite a bit of gusts, which was a foretelling of the weather to come. We sat by the fire and looked skyward for shooting stars or more reliable, satellites which we found about 4. As the night came to a closed lightning could just be detected in the NW sky. Checking weather, there was a good storm tens of miles away. This lightning continued on most of the night as as 3 a.m. approached the winds picked up and the thunder boomed. A mad scramble ensued by 330 a.m. for securing clothing, chairs and other loose objects just as the rain started coming down. It was a minor shower as the bulk of the storm was a few miles off which was a good thing since there were many many trees around that can act like lightning rods in a storm. We survived and the winds died down by 8 a.m. althought the trailer's canvas and our tents were wet requiring a good airing out when we got back home.
