Meeting Time: 10:00 AM

Event Coordinator: LewLasher
Dover, MA
US

Max # People: 15

Trip Guiding / Event Fee: No, I will not be asking participants for money

Difficulty Level: Easy

SUMMARY:

We will hike on the trails at the little-known - and, usually, uncrowded - trails at the Noanet Reservation (a property of the Trustees of Reservations) in Dover, Massachusetts. Note, however, that the hike starts at the adjacent Caryl Park on Dedham Street in Dover. I have mapped out a 3.5 mile loop that includes an ascent of Noanet Peak, 387 feet elevation, which affords a view of a great many trees and a small slice of the Boston skyline. You may want to bring a hiking pole for the very brief steep section of the hike near the peak. The rest of the hike is pretty much flat, and goes past a number of water features. The trail map of Noanet Reservation is at https://thetrustees.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/noanet-woodlands-trail-map.pdf . On this (contour-equipped) map, we will take the least-steep approach up to Noanet Peak via the red trail and the yellow trail. We will descend via the yellow trail and the orange trail. Then we'll hike past Sawmill Pond, Noanet Brook, Third Iron Co. Pond, and Upper Mill Pond. We will return to the parking lot on a different section of the red trail. You can see our 3.5 mile route on the following Google Maps overlay: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1mXVbLw13Q7Jbx-Ni7k-1LWs4sVfdqqE&usp=sharing You can see an elevation profile of the route at: https://lewlasher.com/misc/maps/noanet-profile.jpg .
