Meeting Time: 10:00 AM
Event Coordinator: prolot0Max # People: 15
Trip Guiding / Event Fee: No, I will not be asking participants for money
Difficulty Level:
Easy
SUMMARY:
Join us for a relaxing summer float down one of New England’s most iconic rivers!
Rather than using a commercial tubing company, we'll be doing a DIY float on a beautiful stretch of the Saco River between First Bridge and the Conway Covered Bridge. This route offers a mix of gentle current, swimming opportunities, sandy beaches, and plenty of time to relax and socialize on the water.
Put-In:
First Bridge, West Side Road, Conway, NH
Take-Out:
Conway Covered Bridge, West Side Road, Conway, NH
Estimated Time:
Approximately 3–5 hours on the water, depending on river conditions, water levels, and how often the group stops to swim or relax on sandbars.
Difficulty:
Easy. No paddling experience required, though participants should be comfortable around water and capable swimmers.
Logistics:
We'll need to coordinate a vehicle shuttle between the put-in and take-out locations. Additional details will be provided closer to the event.
What To Bring:
• Tube or float suitable for river use
• Life jacket (recommended)
• Sunscreen
• Water
• Snacks
• Waterproof bag or dry bag
• Water shoes or sandals with straps
• Hat and sunglasses
Important Notes:
• This event is weather and river-level dependent.
• River conditions can change throughout the season. The event may be postponed if water levels are unusually high or low.
• The First Bridge area is a popular public access point and parking can fill early.
• Participants are responsible for their own equipment, transportation, and safety.
Whether you want to float quietly and enjoy the scenery or spend the day chatting and laughing with friends, this is a great way to enjoy summer in the White Mountains.
