SUMMARY: Weekday hike series. The Chippewa Trail is 1.8 miles long with 1550 feet of elevation gain (about 16% average grade), so trail is somewhat steep but of moderate length. Views from the peak of Black Mountain, the scenic Chippewa Trail offers several views during the ascent.We will return by the same trail. Hike time can take 3-4 hrs depending on trail conditions and time spent at the top. We’ll eat lunch at the top of Black Mountain, so bring your lunch. Dress in layers and bring good traction/ffotwear.
