SUMMARY:

Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and called Boston’s Emerald Necklace, the  mile route water travels from Jamaica Pond to the Charles River.

Meet at the Jamaica Pond Boathouse’s Bandstand, 507 Jamaicaway, Jamaica Plain, MA. Trip ends around 1:00 p.m. at the Fens Victory Gardens near the intersection of Boylston Street and Massachusetts Avenue, close to Green Line and Bus services. Optional inexpensive lunch afterwards in the general neighborhood.

Bring water and comfortable walking shoes.

Note: Walk meets at Jamaica Pond Boathouse and ends in the Fenway area. In order to return to Jamaica Plain there's public transportation available on the #39 Bus on Huntington Ave. or taxi/uber.

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

Driving: There’s designated parking on Perkins Street side of Jamaica Pond and other parking on Lochstead Avenue as well as side streets toward Centre, like Elliot and Burroughs. Please allow time for parking in Jamaica Plain.

Public Transportation: Both Jamaica Plain (start) and The Fenway near Kenmore Square (end) have public transportation. By bus, take the #39 get off at the Myrtle Street on Centre Street and walk (5 minutes) Myrtle to Pond Street to Jamaica Pond Boathouse. By subway, Orange Line to Green Street station and walk (15 minutes) Green Street to Centre Street to Pond Street to JP Boathouse.
