SUMMARY: We'll meet up at the Shannon Brook parking area on RT 171. Starting with the Shannon Brook Trail, we'll use the Bald Knob cut-off trail. Here we'll see a great overlook of Lake Winnepesaukee and the Belknap Range (Gunstock) and have a lunch or snack. After a back track on the Cut-off trail, we'll take in the Brook Trail. There are seven waterfalls within this one mile hike A hike back down Shannon Brook trail will bring us back to the parking lot. The hike is 4 miles, with a top elevation of 1800'. It will take 2-3 hours, which leaves plenty of time for a swim in Lake Winnepesaukee at the Melvin Village wharf.
Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at: Shannon Brook Trail on rt 171, 2.3 miles east of the Rt 109 junction, and just east of the entrance to Castle in the Clouds. I will be driving a white GMC pick up. 11am.
