SUMMARY:

Join me on a hike to the beautiful Georgiana Falls and Harvard Falls. Harvard Falls is described as being one of the largest in NH. The water source for both is Harvard Brook. Geogiana Falls is a 30' cascade across a 20' ledge to a pool below. Harvard Falls is located where Harvard Brook splits in two and plunges 60' into a long chasm below. From the top of Harvard Falls there is a view of Loon Mountain. The hike to Georgiana Falls is easy to follow and relatively flat but the trail to Harvard Falls beyond that is tricky, steeper and more strenuous as it follows a recently blazed herd trail. Many people stop at Georgiana but it is worth it to continue on to Harvard Falls for the spectacular views. Both falls are listed in New England Waterfalls guidebook and for photos you can google Georgiana Falls and Harvard Falls. It's 2.6 miles out and back with an elevation gain of 826'. Weather permiting, bring swim trunks for a dip in one of the fall's pools. Rain date is Sunday September 13th.

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

From route 93 north take exit 33 onto route 3 north. After 0.3 mile on route 3 north turn left onto Hanson Farm Road on the west side of route 3 directly across from the Longhorn Restaurant.  From route 93 heading south from Franconia Notch take exit 34A and go past the Flume Visitor Center on route 3 south until you see the Longhorn Restaurant on your left. Hanson Farm Road is directly across from that. Drive to the end of Hanson Farm Road (about 0.1- 0.2 miles) where there is a small parking area. I will be driving a silver Toyota Corolla with MA plates. If there is interest we can have dinner at the Woodstock Inn near Lincoln. Bring snacks, water and whatever you need for a late summer hike. Also swim trunks for a dip in one of the fall's  pools. Rain date Sunday September 13th.
