SUMMARY:

Join us for this beautiful hike in Waterville Valley to the Scaur and Flume along lesser used trails.   This hike is 8.5 miles long with about 1300 feet of elevation gain, although the last 4.5 miles is an easy downhill walk along Livermore Road.    We will start on Livermore Road, then take the Kettles Trail up to the Scaur, a rocky outcropping with nice views at the top.   We will take a short break at the Scaur to rest and admire the views.    We will then continue on the Irene's Path trail to the Flume.  Irene's Path is a new trail created in 2013 after the Scaur Trail and the Flume Brook Trail were permanently closed due to damage from Hurricane Irene.    There is another nice view shortly before we get to the Flume, and then we will have lunch relaxing by the water at the flume.     From the Flume we take Old Skidder Trail upward and then to Livermore Trail/Road, where it is then a gentle 4.5 mile walk back down to the parking area.    We may go out for coffee / beverages afterwards if people are interested.
