SUMMARY: This will be a moderate to strenuous hike traveling north to south along the Bartram Trail in the Chattahoochee National Forest. It will be a one way hike and will require a shuttle. This hike will cross many streams as we start south with 15 bridges in the first 3 miles. The trail will ascend Rabun Bald (second highest point in Georgia with elevation of 4696 feet). We should expect an elevation gain of 1950 feet. This should be a scenic event with an observation tower atop Rabun Bald, with views of South Carolina, North Carolina and of course Georgia. Plan on 7 hours of hiking and shuttling for this event. We will meet at the Burger King in Clayton in the morning and we will the Burger King for the Trailheads at 8:30 AM sharp. Please arrive earlier for meeting and breakfast. |
