SUMMARY:

OK, I know this is a frequently listed hike but I haven't been to this summit this year so please join me if you can.  We'll ascend via the Brook Trail 3.5 mi (3 hrs) to the peak;  great ledge views along the way.  Return 3.8 mi via Hammond & Liberty Trails (2 1/2 hrs).  Approximately 2500' elevation gain.  Meet at the Liberty Trail parking area (parking fee) at the end of Paugus Mill Road (Chocorua Mountain Road according to GoogleMaps).  Please wear layers, bring a lunch and plenty of water and wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots.

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

Directions: Route 16N (Spaulding Turnpike) to Route 25W at the traffic light in West Ossipee.  Go west on 25 to Route 113N (Tamworth).  From the west take Route 25E past Route 113 to Sandwich to a left onto the Route 113 for Tamworth.  Take 113 into Tamworth village and continue straight ahead on Route 113A (the Chinook Trail).  Turn right onto Fowlers Mill Road.  Then turn left onto Paugus Road (a dirt road); there should be a sign indicating hiking trails for Mt Chocorua.  Drive in to the end at the Liberty Trail trailhead.  I'll be in a silver Focus wagon with CT plates.  For anyone coming from the south or east and interested in carpooling from my cottage in Center Ossipee (at the junction of Rtes 16 & 25E), please feel free to get in touch.  You'll need to meet me at 9AM so we can leave no later than 9:15AM.
