SUMMARY: Critical Mass is a fun bicycle ride which gives you the freedom to ride on the streets of Los Angeles with thousands of cyclists without having to stop for signals. The police block off the intersections, and we ride the streets with police escorts. LA Critical Mass monthly rides are approximately 30 miles with a speed around 10 miles per hour. There are always at least two brief stops. Each month the ride takes a different route which is part of the fun. LA Critical Mass rides are on the last Friday of each month. Previous rides have covered Downtown, West Hollywood's Santa Monica Bl., Hollywood Blvd. between Highland Ave. and Western Ave, Thaitown, Little Armenia, Mid-Wilshire, Koreatown, East Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and many other neighborhoods. For more information visit their website and Facebook page Los Angeles Critical Mass. STARTING TIME AND LOCATION: The ride starts at 7:29 PM. We meet AT 7:00 PM in front of the CLEANERS sign in the plaza at the northeast corner of Wilshire Blvd. and Western Ave. near the stairs. ENDING TIME AND LOCATION: The ride ends between 11:00 PM and Midnight at Sunset Blvd. and Western Ave. which is located near the Metro Red Line Station at Hollywood Blvd. and Western Ave. Note that the starting location and ending location are different! PARKING YOUR CAR: It is best to park your car close to where the ride ends on a street near Sunset Blvd. and Western Ave. If you are planning on joining us for a bite to eat after the ride park near Sanamluang Thai Restaurant at 5176 Hollywood Blvd. at N. Kingsley Dr. which is 4 blocks east of the Hollywood Blvd. and Western Ave. Metro Station. Check the signs so you don't get a traffic ticket. Allow adequate time to get to the starting point of the bicycle ride. I suggest at least one hour. HOW TO GET TO THE STARTING POINT OF THE RIDE: 1. Take your bike on the Metro to the Wilshire Blvd. and Western Ave. Metro stop. After you park your car you can ride your bike to the Metro Red Line stop at Hollywood Blvd. and Western Ave. Take the Metro Red Line to the Wilshire Blvd. and Vermont Ave. Metro stop and transfer to the Metro Purple Line which goes to the Wilshire Blvd. and Western Ave. Metro stop where the ride starts. To see a map of the Red Line and Purple Line Metro stops CLICK HERE. 2. Take your bike on a bus to Wilshire Blvd. and Western Ave. 3.
