SUMMARY: Join us for a midday glide around the beautiful property owned by the Nature Conservancy (http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/connecticut/preserves/art17963.html) located in the towns of Weston & Redding in southwestern CT (Fairfield County). Its patchwork of woodlands, wetlands, rock ledges and series of north-south ridges and valleys woven with streams and swamps make the Devil's Den ideal for passive outdoor activity. There are 20 miles of hiking trails to explore on XC skis. While the trails aren’t groomed, many trails will probably have been tracked by skiers who’ve been there already. Should the snows fail us, we'll hike in appropriate winter gear. We'll ski/hike for 4-5 hours. Please eat a hardy breakfast and bring a sandwich, snacks and beverage with you (in a knapsack) for the outing. Then, for those interested, we'll adjourn to a local eatery for apres-ski nourishment and relaxation. There are NO equipment rentals at Devil's Den. Please dress appropriately for the weather and activity.
