Mid-Winter Update
We are in the middle of winter, and though we may be tempted to follow the bears into hibernation, the club offers a lot to do outdoors ~ and OK, indoors, too. Whether you are seasoned winter fanatic or looking to try something new, check out our Events Calendar.
We have many members who enjoy Alpine Skiing/Riding yet you would never know it looking at our Events Calendar. The same goes for the guys who like to climb winter 4,000 footers. If you are currently doing these activities, please consider having other members join you by Adding An Event.
If you are not looking to take up a new sport, you can extend some of your current activities into winter [sorry paddlers ~ though there are some out there pushing the limits]. For hikers, winter does not have to send us scurrying inside with only our maps and plans for next spring to keep us warm. I can personally recommend our GetWinter Hike series, as a great opportunity to extend your hiking experience into the fourth season or to improve your existing skills and knowledge. Full disclosure: I'm one of the trip leaders, so you'll be in good hands.
As for indoor opportunities I mentioned, we will be presenting a slide show of our past trips for Capital Gay Men's group on April 9 in Concord, NH. We'll also have our ongoing GO Socials with one planned for Manchester, NH in April. For me, one of the best things about GO is attending these gatherings and meeting guys in a social setting. Many guys I've met have told me they wished they had attended these sooner.
We have some outstanding volunteers who run trips and then write a trip report/post photos afterwards. To find out who they are, check our Members of the Month. I hope you like the recent website upgrades made possible from the financial support of our full members and advertisers. I look forward to working with the Board of Directors this year as we pursue making more improvements and carry out the vision of the club.
Want to be inside of all the fun and make new outdoorzy buddies? There's an easy way to get instantly connected with the fun of GayOutdoors: become a full member. It's just $25 a year and will allow you to contact other members, enlarge all member photos in profiles, be ranked at the top of all search results, find out which guys have viewed your profile, view member home pages, and more. We are looking into offering a "full members only meet-up" at an outfitter like EMS or REI that will provide GO full member only discounts, how-to workshops, clothing/gear demonstrations, slide shows and meeting those cute sales guys! >>Learn About a GayOutdoors Full Membership and Sign-Up
I encourage you not to wait to take advantage of opportunities to mingle with other outdoorzy guys either in our social events or participating in our activities.
See you OUT there!
