Summary

See the Bucks County’s beautiful PA New Hope area from a new perspective!  Biking the canal tow path is an easy and peaceful bicycle ride with some spectacular views! So bring a camera along!

I went on this same bike trail with another GO group and it was so much fun I decided to host one myself.

We’’ll meet at 11am at the back of Union Square Dr. in the far end of the parking lot. It’s close to the Railroad. You’ll see the Triumph Brewing Company of New Hope on your right. The address is 400 Union Square Dr. New Hope, PA 18938 You can map it here.
https://goo.gl/maps/Rxb3r  Go down and park in the very back of the parking lot. Parking costs a few dollars.  Place your ticket in your cars windshield.  Fill up on fresh water at the restaurant if you wish.  Bring sunblock as needed, as some areas will have little shade.

The tow path follows the old barge canal and is a fairly flat, mostly hard dirt trail, very easy to traverse, with lovely views of estates, rolling hills and of course, the river and the canal. I have a hardtail bike which is perfect for it, but hybrid road bikes will be just fine.
The trail we will follow will take us from the tow path entrance on Bridge Street, north to the Stockton Bridge.  We can take a short break at Dilly’s Corner if you wish just to check the river view.  Then we’ll head across the river at the Stockton bridge to the New Jersey side, and follow their tow path back towards Lambertville NJ, then across the Lambertville bridge back into New Hope.

It’s a really nice ride. Afterwards around 12:30 or so if you wish we can grab lunch at Martine’s, a charming restaurant right on the riverside. http://martinesriverhouserestaurant.com/
The reservations will be under my name, Steve. There is a bike lock station right there.

From there feel free to explore the wonderful town of New Hope, it’s restaurants, parks, and various attractions.  New Hope has always been very eclectic, artsy, and gay-friendly.  I grew up near there and have a lot of fond memories of the place.

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and showing you around one of my favorite biking trails!  If you have any questions please contact me.  Peace.  -Steve
