Summary
Saturday, April 18th, 2015. (EASY-TO-MODERATE and “C/O”). Bicycle 7 miles to the observation tower – starting in the afternoon to twilight - seeing gators lounging beside the road, plenty of birds, and getting to the Observation Tower in time to see the sun just dip below the western horizon. When the night falls, estimated at 7:45 p.m., it would be very dark as it is the night of the new moon and the new moon has no light.
Keep in mind that we will pretty much have the park to ourselves as not too many people wish to be at Shark Valley under a moonless night. So, those who wish to bicycle naked may do so. (“C/O” signifies clothing optional).
We will meet about 6:30 p.m. outside the park, on the shoulder off the side of the road (past the string of “no parking signs”) so we could bicycle at a comfortable speed to the Observation Tower. At this time of the afternoon the wild life is active.
You need a bike, water, a snack, bug spray and a flashlight (if you prefer, or if you bicycle has a light that will suffice).
Anyone interested in carpooling with me, Rene, departing from Wilton Manors, is welcome to join me as I can carry three (3) additional bicycles.
Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot
36000 Shark Valley Loop Road, Miami, Florida 33194.
We will meet at the Shark Valley entrance to The Everglades on U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail). Take the Palmetto or the Turnpike to SW 8th Street, head west and when you reach the intersection of Krome Avenue (SW 177 Avenue), zero out your speedometer and travel 17.8 miles and the entrance to the park will be on your left.

- Comment: Two attending. We have made the ride many times during the day. During a full moon will be a bonus experience.
