Summary

Continuing the Turkey Tramp tradition, let me be your guide since I used to work here. We will meet at the Trail head 1/2 mile into Mashamoquet Brook State Park located on Route 44 in Pomfret, CT. This year we will walk clockwise. This 4 1/2 mile, moderate, dog on leash hike, will allow you to visit Stephan Avery's Revolutionary War grave site, sit on Indian Chair,where Chief Uncas sat.; take a short water/snack break; crawl into the historic Wolf Den: get Post Thanksgiving exercise and enjoy good company for a peaceful fun time. Please meet at 10:30 AM for an 11 AM sharp start. We will have an optional late lunch around 2:15 PM at the Vanilla Bean Cafe. This event is also listed with Chiltern Mountain Club and CT Pride Hikers.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

From Hartford: 84 east to 44 east (exit 69); Providence: Rt 6 west to 44 west: Worcester and New London: 395 to exit 93 to 101 west to 44 west. Park is located about 2 miles from 101/44 junction. ( Do not use office location at 147 Wolf Den Drive). For GPS use 278 Mashamoquet Rd., Pomfret Center, CT 06259. Look for Red Prius. For park info: http://ct.gov.cwp/view.asp?a=2716&q=325238. There are no fees at this time of year. It's only a one hour drive to Springfield. www.thevanillabeancafe.com is located at 456 Deerfield Rd., Pomfret Center, CT at the intersection of Rt 169, RT 44, & Rt 97.
