SUMMARY:

Meet at 11 AM at Newport Gateway Visitor Center, 23 America's Cup Avenue, Newport, RI 02840. Park at Visitor Center. I will wear a red hat. We will take the RIPTA Trolley ($1.75) to the start of the Cliff Walk, which runs 3.5 miles along Newport's rocky, ocean views shoreline with the architectural history of Newport's gilded age Mansions. The northern section is easy. The southern section is moderate with slippery rocks, 70 feet drops, and Poison Ivy ( can op out of this section). Bring a brown bag lunch, good walking shoes, and water. After lunch we will then walk to the Marble House with it's recently, not to be missed, restored Gothic Room and the Chinese Tea House ($14). After touring the Marble House Mansion we will take the Trolley ($1.75) back to the Visitor Center around 5 PM. There will then be an optional Dinner and/or time to explore downtown Newport. This event is also listed with Chiltern Mountain Club. For more info: www.newportcliffwalk.com and www.newportmansions.org.
