Picture an old family farmhouse on the edge of a clean river and surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest. That was just for starters. Our hosts Bill and Glen made us feel like we were visiting royalty come from afar....and accustomed to the finer things in life. Their Thanksgiving dinner was truly traditional and the four of us feasted away after a day of a long walk around nearby hilly farm roads with wrap-around mountain vistas. Deer hunting season was still on so hiking the trails wasn't advised. Phil from NH brought  his home baked pecan rolls and a super Cranberry wine from Cape Cod. Host Bill drove us around the neighboring farm communities, gravelly mountain roads and the amazing town of Middlebury. Host Glen is a bread baker extraordinaire who furnishes local general stores and cafes with his home cooked wonders. So this trip report is about great food and even greater hospitality by hosts Bill and Glen. It was their first trip posting with GO. They live in a magnificent location that offers year round outdoor activities. These are authentic guys who love country living and dared to open their home to guys they'd never met. But since it was GO guys...it turned out to be a great Thanksgiving get-together that I'll treasure. This was a different and creative GO get together that sets the stage for further good times with more and more outdoorzy activities based on the time of year and the variety of nearby options. Thanks so much Bill and Glen....and you too Phil :-)
