This was a very nice hike, mostly downhill, on the Bartram Trail. From the Wilson Gap trailhead to the Warwoman Dell trailhead was 9 miles. But we took a couple of side trips for scenic views and ended up with 12.2 miles of hiking.

It is a beautiful forest hike with mostly tree covered canopy. A spur trail took us to Pinnacle Knob and some nice viewing in the sun. Yoga poses broke out on this bright spot.

This hike had numerous creek crossings and the bridges were all well maintained.

At about the 10 mile mark we came across our first waterfall (Martin Creek Falls). There is a nice viewing platform for the falls here. A nice two tiered falls with a nice pool at the bottom, which invited us in for a refreshing skinny dip. About a mile and a half later we came to Becky Creek Falls.

The hike ended with us crossing Warwoman Road and walking into Warwoman Dell trailhead. Warwoman was a Cherokee woman that sat on the war council and had considerable infuence into whether the tribe went to war or not. The war council met at this dell.

4 hikers joined this hike, with two coming from other sites.

What Members Are Saying About This Trip/Event

  • This was a sweet hike - like David said, more down hill than up and a gorgeous section of forest and several waterfalls and Pinnacle Knob was outstanding - all 4 of us enjoyed the time together on this hike - I don't have permission to post their pics so won't but I did have several of just me so I'll post them. - edfarthing
  • This was a great hike - 4 guys joined the hike and we hiked 9 miles on the Bartram trail and a side trip of another mile or 2 to a beautiful rock outcrop on Pinnacle Knob - it probably overlooked several states but the state lines were hard to see from up there when one was distracted by naked men - naked hikes are the best. - edfarthing
  • Hey David - thanks for the great hike - glad 2 others were able to join - loved seeing naked men splashing around in the waterfall and pool underneath - edfarthing
