New Years Day Hike

This is my 10th annual hike that I'm leading on New Year's Day for a local land trust and thought I'd post it on Go Outdoors as well.  This year we'll be meeting at the Fitzgerald

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

Coming from the South, Take I91 to second Northampton Exit.  Go straight through the lights onto Damen Road.  Go past King Street and up the hill to where it turns into Bridge Road.  Go through the first set of lights and travel another mile into Florence.  At Maple Street lights turn right.  The Trailhead and parking is at the bottom of the hill.

 

Coming from the North, Take I91 south to second Northampton Exit (King Street).  Make a right at the first set of lights onto Bridge Road.  Go through the first set of lights and travel another mile into Florence.  At Maple Street lights, turn right.  The trailhead and parking is at the bottom of the hill.

You can also take Route 9 into Florence, turn right (if heading from Northampton), turn left if heading from Williamsburg...onto Maple Street.  Take Maple past the first set of lights, the Trailhead and parking is at the bottom of the hill.

What a way to celebrate the new year!  The weather was perfect and Fitzgerald lake was just beautiful!  I think everyone had a good time and lots to eat afterwards;  the soup was gone and I had 1 piece of toasted coconut cream cake left...Happy New Year!
