A WINTER HIKE IN ARNOLD ARBORETUM
02/23/2019
Trip Report/Photos from Boston
I had the best day I've experienced since the winter season began, thank you to everyone who made the day so enjoyable. Our group consisted of 20 very pleasant men and the 3-1/2 hour hike through the magnificent arboretum was perfectly routed thanks to our knowledgeable and cheerful leaders. We began at the Hunnewell Visitor's Center and were treated to a personal tour of a superb photography exhibit, "Transitions: Winter to Spring," by the photographer who was also a member of our hiking group, From there we hiked through hemlock groves, by stream beds, up drumlins and had a full view of the Boston skyline where we posed for a group photo that I posted here. Life doesn't get any better than this!
p.s. I just read John's (N.H.) comment on this trip and did my best to enlarge a tiny section of the photo I took of the two hawks waaay up in the evergreen tree.

Thank you Ed and Carlos for getting me out of hibernation and for such an education. The red and yellow witch hazel trees were amazing. So colorful. Never seen them in the outdoors before. Nice seeing other friends again as well. Hope you enjoyed your Thai/Cambodian dinner.
