Wells State Park
03/14/2018
Ahhhhh…. Winter is upon us again – sweet! I was lucky enough to have two snow days this week – Tuesday and Wednesday. I couldn’t assume we would not have school on Wednesday (3/14) but when we cancelled I decided I was going to get outside after doing a little bit of work from home. Not wanting to travel far I decided I would do a six mile loop in Wells State Park.
I tend to overlook the areas closest to home, in part because they don’t offer the challenge, complexity and rigorous hike I so enjoy. That said, I didn’t want to travel far and I wanted some fresh air, the scent of spring mixed with a splash of winter, so I settled on Wells State Park just 15 minutes from my home.
This is what I would call a family friendly summer campground with a built in hike for little kids, lol. It offers a nice loop trail with a small summit that looks eastward towards Boston. On a clear day you can make out the skyscrapers. It was just enough for today and a brilliant mid-week escape with little effort other than breaking trail. Sweet!!
