The weather was perfect and the Sawmill Hills never disappoints.  The vernal pools were teaming with all sorts of tadpoles and fairy shrimp. The Salamander eggs hadn't hatched yet so we were able to get a feel for their jello-like texture, very cool! One hiker thought it reminded him of what the primordial ooze would have looked like!  I think everyone enjoyed the lunch at my place after the hike.  Salamander eggs were not on the menu...  Good soup and great bread from Northampton bakery!
