Summary

On this out & back trip to Walden Pond we will hike a total of 3.7 miles and experience about 250ft of elevation gain.

Hike plan (generally following https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/massachusetts/bay-circuit-trail-mt-misery-walden-pond#:~:text=Try%20this%203.7%2Dmile%20out,during%20quieter%20times%20of%20day.)  Beginning at Mt Misery trailhead, we will walk through trees, fields and over train tracks to approach the pond from the Adams Woods side.  Once there we will find a spot to have lunch & relax.  Optional pond circuit/visit to the Thoreau cabin site.  Return will be mostly on the same paths

“I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”    – Thoreau (from “Walden”)

Preparation/what to bring:  lunch, water, snacks, and a good collegial attitude

Social mixer/overnight:  following the hike, everyone is welcome back to my house in north Wayland MA to hang out.  Dinner logistics TBD, but BYOB.  Address will be provided to those attending this portion of the event.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

There is a car park (NO fee charged) at this location (https://goo.gl/maps/2RbEBCoSDx4f4cNv9).  If this is full, then you can park along the road near this trailhead (https://goo.gl/maps/mb8YVUNhhES3W2ZP7).  We will coordinate on hike day to ensure all attendees meet up along the trail from these two locations

Note:  I am able to take up to 4 other hikers + gear from the Boston area, contact me to arrange

Due to board responsibilities that have come up for tomorrow, I regret I have to bow out. Have a great hike!

wxdude Posted Oct 14, 2022 at 8:32 AM

Sounds good, thanks.

vwgreg Posted Oct 14, 2022 at 12:21 AM

Yes, the hike is still on and I'm looking forward to it. Looks like a software glitch.

wxdude Posted Oct 13, 2022 at 9:21 PM

Just wondering is the hike still on? I’m no longer seeing a leader for the event.

SteveStrat Posted Sep 1, 2022 at 5:31 AM

Hi, I won't be able to attend the after hike mixer- gotta get home to walk the dog. Twings, congrats on the 70 days, keep it up. I am working on the same thing. steve

Twigs Posted Aug 31, 2022 at 6:28 PM

I personally won't be going to the mixer, as a personal choice, as apical gathering are still hard for me to stay sober at... only 70day sober here. But I tend to think it it wasn't on a work night maybe more ppl would be interested?
