Summary

Join us for an intermediate hike to Mt. Roberts [2582’] in Moultonborough, NH. We’ll be taking the attractive and relatively easy Mt. Roberts Trail except for two steep sections. The trail passes over numerous open ledges with excellent views over to Lake Winnipesauke and its surrounding mountains. The hike will be 5.5 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of 1,300 feet.

We’ll have lunch on the summit to enjoy the northern views of Mt. Chocorua, Mt. Washington, Whiteface, Passaconaway, Tripyramids and much more!  We’ll meet at 10AM at Shannon Pond, the center of a trail network in the Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area. All we’ll need MicroSpikes since the trail is well packed with some icy spots.

For the hike we recommend wearing insulated hiking boots since the snow melt will get into boots making your feet cold. Don't forget to wear layers [NO COTTON OR BLUE JEANS], gloves, warm hat, water, lunch, snacks, etc.

Please stay home if you are sick or have been around anyone sick.

Après Hiking Dinner:  Everyone is welcome to join us back at our house in Waterville Valley if you provide us proof of vaccination to relax beside our fireplace with views of the Sandwich Mountain/Mad River [BYOB and bring snacks] followed by one of Jon's delicious dinners. We ask $10 per person to help pay for our food costs. Showers are available so bring a change of clothing to make your visit with us more comfortable.

Lodging Option: Bunk beds are available at our house [with Wi Fi] near Waterville Valley, NH for Friday and/or Saturday night if you provide us proof of vaccination. Its $25 for Friday night and $35 for Saturday that includes dinner [$60 for the weekend]. Coffee/bagels each morning and linen/blankets/towels are provided. Space is limited so email ASAP to reserve a bunk!

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

Trailhead and parking area are on Ossipee Park Road in Moultonborough, NH. Ossipee Park Road starts on the northeast side of Rt. 171, 0.5 miles east of Rt. 109. Drive about 1.5 miles up Ossipee Park Road. Parking is available at the end of the road on the right. We’ll be driving a blue Toyota Tacoma truck. Click here for a Google map.
