Summary

Join us for a 6 mile stroll up the Crawford Path to enjoy the awesome view of Mt. Washington from Mt. Pierce.  The elevation gain is 2417 feet.  The trail is a moderately steep ramp & and possibly will be “stomped-out” since it is a very popular trail.  We will hike 1.5 miles to the Mizpah Cut off Trail then take to right fork to Mizpah Spring Hut. From the Mizpah Spring Hut we hike about a mile to the summit of Mt. Pierce & then hike (or slide) down appx 2.7 miles.  The hike will take about 5 hours.  We will have lunch at the hut or on the summit of Mt. Pierce (elevation 4310 feet).    Dress for winter conditions with waterproof winter hiking boots and microspikes and/or crampons depending on conditions. We have extra few pairs of snowshoes if anybody wants them. Bring lunch and water.  Let me know if you have questions about your wardrobe or accessories.

Optional après hike Pizza & Beer Party at “Bear Pond”: Everyone is welcome to join us back at our house in Sugar Hill, NH after the hike to sit by the wood stoves or hang out on the deck and enjoy the mountain views. We will be having salad, pizza & beer for Happy Hour/Dinner. Showers are available. If you would like to stay overnight, we have some extra bedrooms that can accommodate up to 6 guests.  The house is about 30 minutes from the trailhead near Cannon Mountain.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

We will meet at the Parking Lot for the Crawford Connector Trail (across the highway from the AMC Highland Center at Crawford Notch).  From Twin Mountain NH (intersection of Rts 3 & 302)- take route 302 east for 8.2 miles, turn left onto Mt. Clinton Road for 0.1 mile & then turn left to enter the parking lot.

Additional directions when driving to 277 Carpenter Rd: After you make the right turn onto Carpenter Rd from Lafayette Rd, the house will be the first one on the right about 0.1 mile down the road. We will have all the outdoor lights on in case you arrive after dark. Bob

Hi All: I think the parking lot will be plowed out at the trailhead since it hasn't snowed lately so it should be easy to park there. If the parking lot is full or not accessible, you can also park at the AMC Highlands Center Parking lot across the road or also on the side of the highway. We will meet at the trailhead of the Crawford Connector Trail (in the parking lot) by the restrooms. If you need to contact me, I will have my cellphone 508 244 0096. Bob

Looks like we will have sunny conditions on Friday and Saturday- so great mountain views on the trail and at the house. If you are coming to the house the address is: 277 Carpenter Rd Sugar Hill NH 03586. It should be easy to find using Google Maps. If you have any questions, I am available at 508 244 0096. See you this weekend ! Bob & John
