Summary

I've decided to do downhill mountain biking and thought I would open this up as a last-minute group event.

Powder Ridge is the ski mountain in Middlefield, and this is the second year for fall downhill mountain biking.  The trails are moderate to strenuous.  Safety gear is mandatory.  The lifts take us and the bikes up to the top, and attendants are there to help.  Lift passes are $28 for the whole mountain and $18 for lower mountain access and snake runs.  Mountain bikes can also be rented for $65 for the Verb Expert and $85 for the Fury.

Bring plenty of water and some snacks.  The lodge will also be open for more substantial food.

Powder Ridge is also the only New England mountain to have synthetic snow for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing.  For those who would rather do that, come join me on the mountain, or we can plan a different GO event for this activity.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

Powder Ridge is at 99 Powder Hill Rd.

From I-91 South, take Exit 19 and turn Left at the end of the ramp onto Baldwin Avenue. Continue onto Preston Avenue. After 1.2 miles, turn Left onto East Main Street, and then take the ramp onto Route 66 East. In about .75 miles, turn Right onto Route 147. Go 1.7 miles and turn Right onto Powder Hill Road. After about .5 miles, turn Right into Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort.

From I-91 North, take Exit 15 to Route 68 toward Yalesville/Durham. At the end of the ramp, take a Right onto Route 68 East. Go about 2.6 miles and turn Left on Route 157 North (Reeds Gap Road). Go about .2 miles and take the first Left onto Powder Hill Road. After about 1.9 miles, turn Left into Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort.

From Route 66 West (Middletown area), turn Left onto Route 147 after you pass the Mount Higby Reservoir. Go 1.7 miles and turn Right onto Powder Street and Powder Hill Road. After about .5 miles, turn Right into Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort.

We will meet in the rental building after everyone has gotten their gear.
