Summary
This is the warmest October we have had in many years, and I wanted to offer a mid-week hike for those interested.
The trails within Creaser Park approximate 2 miles of hiking. We will be hiking all the trails forming a loop. The trails are easy, with some mowed grassy areas through meadows,as well as woodland with some rocks and roots in path. There is a gradual ascent and decent. Lovely by the pond and the Skungamaug River. Good for bird watching, with more than 40 species of birds in area. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed. For those interested in foraging, I will be keeping an eye out for edible mushrooms and fall plants along the trail.
Please wear hiking shoes/boots, and bring water and a snack. Binoculars are good to bring along. This is a pleasant hike for novice hikers as well as experienced.
This is a short hike, so for those interested, the outing could be extended to the trails at the Nathan Hale Homestead just a mile or two up the road. There are also nearby coffee shops and pizza places for those interested in socializing afterwards.
I have also randomly chosen a start time of 11 AM. If there is a concensus to start earlier or later, I would be happy to change the start time.
