Summary

Come join us for a nice summer morning hike along the banks of Lake Anna.  We'll stop by an old smoke house which was part of a plantation in the 1800s.  We'll have a snack on the shores of Laka Anna at one of the picnic tables.

The hike will last 2 hours and cover about 6 easy miles with plenty of places to rest.  The hike is mostly in shade so the cool of the forest will be a bonus on a hot summer day.

BRING: Water ( a couple of bottles) plus snacks.  Bugs aren't usually a problem but bring bug spray just in case.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

Use your GPS and head to 6800 Lawyers Road, Spotsylvania, VA 22551.  We'll meet at the small parking, just a 1/2 mile from the Park Office (not to be confused with the entrance gatehouse or Contact Station).

After paying your entrance fee, drive down State Park Lane towards the Park Office.  When you see the Park Office or the sign for it, drive past it about a hundred feet or so and take a left at the NEXT ROAD.  Drive down approximately 1/2 mile to the small parking lot which will be on your right (The P on the map) where Mill Pond and Turkey Run trails meet.  Look for a White Honda Accord or Light Green Subaru Forester.  Cell service is spotty in the park so trying to call if you are lost or late could be a problem.

Please give yourself about 15 extra minutes to get through the front gate to pay your entrance fee. Last time I went it took me about that long. Looking forward to meeting the new guys on this trip! Weather should be very nice-cool and sunny. Everyone should have my phone number so don't hesitate to call or text me if you have questions, need to cancel, or run into difficulties. TrailGuyEric

If you guys want to, bring your swimsuit for a mid-hike swim at the lunch spot. Looking forward to the trip. The weather looks to be near perfect for the hike.
