Summary
Because of the "Strolling of the Heifers" event in downtown Brattleboro, we've made some adjustments to the ride route, as well as to the start finish location...AND you may get to see a few strolling heifers!!
Celebrate upcoming Gay Pride Month and join Scott and Dave from Frog Meadow for a 40-mile ride through the beautiful farmland & hills of Southern Vermont and Western Massachusetts and the Connecticut River Valley.
This ride is like riding through a real picture postcard, passing small family farms with dairy cows in their pastures and corn fields. The ride is moderately hilly, a total elevation change/climb of 820 feet.
Click the D link for a Google Map of the route: at https://goo.gl/maps/SZMMDFzU3S12
PLEASE NOTE: Participants should be experienced cyclists and have road bikes, not hybrids or mountain bikes. We will be riding at a moderate pace of 14-15 mph. Maps will be provided.
We will meet at Hannaford Shopping Plaza (south end of parking area), Route 5 (AKA Putney Rd; AKA Calvin Coolidge Memorial Hwy) Accessible off Interstate 91 Exit 3 (point "A" on the google Map) at 11.30 to depart at 12:00 SHARP and expect to be done by 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Look for the YELLOW SAAB CONVERTIBLE. Afterwards participants are welcome to come to Frog Meadow for a hot tub and dip in the pond and BYOB snacks and refreshments!
If you're participating in the Outriders Boston to Provincetown Bike Ride on 6/17 this is an excellent training ride!
Note that overnight lodging at Frog Meadow is booked up should you be travelling from out of town, however lodging is available at nearby and gay-owned Fieldstone Lodge 802.365.0265, ask for Bob or Gary

- Comment: This is a great ride, with Norman Rockwell like scenery, not too hilly, and great to relax afterwards at hosts outdoor hot tub.

Bringing another friend!
If anyone is interested, the OutRiders.org is seeking more riders and volunteers for their annual one day 126 mile Boston to Ptown ride on June 17. Deadline to register is June 5. Any questions hit me up, or go to website (above). While it's an LGBTQ sponsored ride, it is open to anyone.
Do you know there's a huge event that weekend in Brattleboro? There is a Heifers parade on Saturday morning on Main Street. I do not know if this could alter the course or plans since it might be difficult with the crowd?
Hi Mike everyone starts off with a map of the ride, noting key turns, etc. we typically our rides with one of us doing sweep to ensure that nobody gets left behind and usually wait at certain spots so we can regroup. It's a fun ride and not at all competitive. We look forward to your joining us! The map of the ride is posted with the trip description as well as here: https://goo.gl/maps/ghtEuxGRQwm
I am curious, do we all wait together or are we on our own if we drop our speed? I've done bike events in the past so as long as I have a cue sheet I should be all set.
